One Sunny Day

One sunny day, I decided to take photos of my mom and dad’s bougainvilleas outside our home. Since I don’t want to get roasted under the baking sun, I used the thick foliage of the bougainvilleas to hide from the sun’s rays. It was fun because I took the opportunity to snap a few pictures using my camera phone and here they are. πŸ™‚

Legoventure Part 1

One day, my parents left me at home. I was bored so I decided to play with some of our old toys and my dad’s camera. Here’s what I came up with.

LEGOVENTURE

Louie

Where are we?

Surrounded by thick foliage, Louie appears to be lost.

"Hey Jonesy, check out what's below us. "

“Hey Jonesy, check out what’s below us. “

Jonesy, the guy with the red cap leans forward to get a good glimpse of what’s below.

"Flat lands sir. I think we can climb down."

“Flat lands sir. I think we can climb down.”

The land below appears to be nothing but flat terrain. Fortunately, these travelers do know how to be prepared. Armed with a red rope, they start to descend.

"All clear guys! Jonesy, you go first then Laila."

“All clear guys! Jonesy, you go first then Laila.”

Louie, being the senior of the group, got down first. It appears that there are no hostile activity going on.

"Going down now, sir"

“Going down now, sir”

Jonesy carefully lowers himself down to the waiting Louie. The rope starts to sway as the wind starts to blow.

"I'm going down now!"

“I’m going down now!”

Laila, the youngest researcher this side of the world, struggles to hold on to the rope. Fortunately, she managed to secure her hold and is soon on her way down.

"Almost there...This is scary stuff."

“Almost there…This is scary stuff.”

Jonesy doesn’t want to admit it but he is afraid of heights. He just doesn’t want to look bad in front of Laila who is a real charmer.

Laila easing herself down the rope.

It is quite amazing how tough these kids are especially when climbing down the rope. Jonesy is almost down with Laila looking on.

"Whew! We finally made it." said Jonesy.

“Whew! We finally made it.” said Jonesy.

So far, they managed to reach the flat lands. Laila is covered with dust and dirt after battling the thick foliage above.

"Where to next, boss?" Laila said. "How about investigating that fence?" said Louie.

“Where to next, boss?” Laila said. “How about investigating that fence?” said Louie.

The travelers have finally decided to inspect the fence that is dividing the flatlands. The group gathered themselves for the long trek.

Jonesy leads the team.

Jonesy leads the team.

Jonesy started the journey as the lead. The area beyond appears to be some sort of jungle. What will these little adventurers discover as they near the fence?

"Sir, we're almost there." said Jonesy.

“Sir, we’re almost there.” said Jonesy.

A few debris is scattered around. Everything appears to be quiet. No signs of movement as the team nears the fence.

"It appears that there is no sign of life here." Louie remarked as he surveys the surrounding.

“It appears that there is no sign of life here.” Louie remarked as he surveys the surrounding.

Louie slowly climbed the fence to survey the surroundings. After a few minutes, it appeared that nothing was moving or stirring.

"Laila, see if you can climb up higher to see better. "

“Laila, see if you can climb up higher to see better. “

Jonesy would have been his pick but at the moment he was feeling a bit peaked after climbing down the rope. Laila, ever helpful, starts to climb.

"I'm up! Everything seems to be okay, sir!" Laila called down to Louie.

“I’m up! Everything seems to be okay, sir!” Laila called down to Louie.

But Laila, what is that behind you?!

"OH NO!!! IT'S THE MIKASAURUS!!!"

“OH NO!!! IT’S THE MIKASAURUS!!!”

IT’S THE MIKASAURUS!!! (Mikasaurus – a half blind four legged creature that has a strong sense of smell.)

Can the little adventurers escape the wrath of Mikasaurus? Or will their mission to explore the other side of the fence fail? Their adventure will be continued.

Playful Puppy

my baby boy

Playful puppy barking like crazy
my quiet world is rocked, why are you so noisy?
Where’s my slipper you little puppy
stop wagging your tail, how can i be angry?

cutie!
Playful puppy running like crazy
I might step on you when you zoom so dizzily.
Now, where’s your toy bone squeaky?
play with it for a minute, don’t be so sneaky.

Playful Jake
Playful puppy, how I love you so dearly
you remove my stress so adorably.
Your cute button eyes melt my heart easily
fluffy puppy, you make me laugh heartily.

New Year, New Me

Resolutions. I’ve never been really good at keeping them. I tend to forget them or simply break them. Yes, I’m guilty of it just like you. πŸ™‚ Nevertheless, I came across something that challenged me not just as an aspiring writer but also as an individual.

What’s this you’re asking me? Well, this is Neil Gaiman‘s advice to young artists at the CT Youth Forum’s Student Roundtable Discussion held on the 1st of December 2012.

How can I not be inspired? His words of wisdom here actually brought tears to my eyes and a smile on my lips. And not just because I love him as an author but because he inspires. Period.

Everyone needs an inspiration if only to push yourself to your limits or at least try something new without worrying about what others think about you. Mr. Gaiman’s speech here is my inspiration and one that I will follow this New Year.

I am already making small improvements in myself which I am liking day by day. And I think I am quite ready to face 2013 as the new me. πŸ™‚

Here’s what Mr. Gaiman said during the panel discussion.

β€œSaying that we have enough artists is like saying we have enough scientists, we have enough designers, we have enough politicians β€” we have enough politicians β€” but, you know, nobody gets to be you except you. Nobody has your point of view except you. Nobody gets to bring to the world the things that you get to bring to the world β€” uniquely get to bring to the world β€” except you. So, saying that there are enough writers out there, enough directors out there, enough people with points of view. Well yeah, there are, but none of them are you. And none of those people is going to make the art that you are going to make. None of them is going to change people and change the world in the way that you could change it. So if you believe somebody that says, β€œno, no, we’ve got enough of those,” then all it means is that you are giving up your chance to change the world in the way that only you can change it.”

Remember, nobody gets to be you except you. πŸ™‚ This will be my mantra for 2013. And now, I’m eager to fulfill this resolution of mine that I will bring something entirely unique to this world.

Happy New Year everyone!
